D+2: How does this work?
This is going to be really hard work. Crutches and limping is alright, but the constant need to avoid any rotations is exhausting. I can’t bend the knee (expected), so completely different muscles are at work then they usually are. Weird body parts hurt.
I have two types of painkillers, one of them is opioid. It was supposed to be “really good”. Well, I’m not sold on that. Nothing happens for an hour, then your body shuts down, but your mind doesn’t. Want to adjust the volume? Tough luck! You can’t move your hand. And then you doze off. Like coma dose off. For a couple of hours. It feels like an eternity. And when you wake up, you feel fresh. At 1AM. Not great.
The other type is even funnier, I’m supposed to take it every 6 hours. And it lasts for 4. So you take it, wait an hour to let it kick in, you feel like your limbs were cut off for two, you feel dizzy for another two and then you are in pain for one more hour.
Luckily the pain is absolutely bearable, I was expecting much worse. Ice packs are plenty enough to numb it down. I was able to change socks today! Small win!
Tomorrow I’m going to change the bandages, I’ll see the stitches for the first time. I might faint.
I’m watching Kevin Can F**k Himself. It’s very different to what I expected. And funnily enough, it’s hitting the emotional notes that I wanted to forget about for a while - people lying to themselves and to each other, people ruining their relationships because they are selfish, people unable to express what they feel.
I guess it’s human nature to want what you don’t have. I’m going to switch to some random dumb Marvel movies in the afternoon. I don’t yet have enough energy for Playstation.
edit:
I also watched
The Fantastic Four: First Steps - 6/10, didn’t connect with me at all, felt like three eternities
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - 8/10, captivating plot, really good looking, great music, a little bit too long
